Success stories out of the HWC

Mahfouz Abdulla has been living in Hamburg since 2023 and will soon be starting an apprenticeship in the civil service.

has found a second home in Germany. In 2016, she moved with her family from Iraq to Hamburg. With the support of the HWC, she successfully completed retraining as a medical assistant and now works at the Asklepios Clinics.

has made a life for herself in Germany. The beginning wasn’t easy, but step by step she was able to build a new life for herself. Today, with the support of the HWC, she works in the public sector for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

came to Hamburg on his own in 2023 - with no sense of direction and no family. Thanks to the support of the HWC, he now works as a dental assistant, and his family lives with him. Step by step, he is moving toward becoming a licensed dentist.

fled Ukraine with his family in 2022 and came to Hamburg. He had to overcome a number of challenges, but has managed to start a new career! Today, he works as a security systems installer.

is from Iran, where he completed a degree in accounting. His journey was long and not always easy. But: Bahador Rouhanidoust made it and now works in public administration!

arrived in Hamburg in June 2025 with a job search opportunity card and clear goals: to work, develop his skills and settle down. With the support of the Hamburg Welcome Center and a lot of personal effort, he quickly found a job as an industrial electronics technician and successfully entered the German labour market.

has achieved her goal: she is working in Germany in her trained profession as a nurse. The path to get there was not easy, but with the support of the HWC, she was able to take this step – and can now help her patients.

moved to Hamburg with his family in 2022 due to the war in Ukraine. Today, Mr Skliar works as a qualified maintenance technician. He is proud that he has successfully entered the German labour market and created a future for himself and his family.

is the mother of four grown-up children and has been living in Germany since 2019. Thanks to support from the HWC, the Jordanian woman now works in the public sector for the City of Hamburg. Her children call her a “heroine” on the phone, and she herself says she is proud of what she has achieved so far.
