Immigration matters with a visa
The so-called "Visa Office" is involved by the German missions abroad in the visa procedure and asked for its statement. Here, it is checked centrally for the whole of Hamburg whether the requirements for an entry are met. In addition, applications under the Hamburg Reception Program for Syrian refugees can be submitted here.
About Us
The department "Entry matters with visa" (Visa Office Hamburg) is part of the unit "Hamburg Welcome Center for Professionals" in the Office for Migration of the Ministry of the Interior and Sports ('Behörde für Inneres und Sport').
Our Services
The Immigration Department (Visa Office Hamburg) is involved by the German diplomatic missions abroad in the visa procedure for longer-term stays (over 90 days, if residence in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is intended) and asked for its statement. Thus, the prerequisite is always the application for a longer-term visa at one of the German missions abroad.
Applications under the Hamburg admission program for Syrian refugees are submitted by family members residing in Hamburg by mail or simply by e-mail with a file attachment (PDF) directly to the Hamburg visa office. In the case of a positive admission decision, a notification is sent to the foreign mission, which issues the visa after an appointment has been made.
